Charlotte Walton
Health Innovation Network Strategy Director and Interim National Coordination Director
Charlotte (Charlie) joined the Health Innovation Network central team from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals where she was Director of Planning and Delivery leading on strategy, planning and transformation.
She joined the NHS on her birthday in 2007, originally training clinically as a graduate mental health worker in Halton and St Helens before going on to work in research and development and then joining the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme, where she specialised in General Management.
Charlie has a wealth of knowledge working both nationally and internationally, having worked in consultancy for EY she is experienced across all sectors of healthcare.
Charlie has previously worked as Deputy Director for Improvement in NHS England and National Project Management Office (PMO) lead for NHS England.
Charlie holds an MSc in Organisational Psychology from Manchester Business School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Leadership and Service Improvement.
Charlie is a member of our Senior Leadership Team working closely with the Chair and Vice Chair of the Network to support and deliver the Heath Innovation Network Strategy. She works in partnership with the AHSN chief officers to translate the strategy into meaningful plans and outcomes.
Charlie directly supports the Strategic Partnerships Group, overseeing our collaborative partnerships, and the Programme and Pipeline Development Group, using horizon-scanning and demand-signalling to identify tomorrow’s innovations today.
Charlie is also our Interim National Coordination Director, responsible leading the Health Innovation Network central coordination office.
