Recordings of our recent Net Zero Green Hospital Sharing & Learning event, held on Thursday 14 September, are now available.
Watch the 10 sessions and two roundtable discussions featuring more than 50 innovators and system partners explore some of the excellent work that is starting to take place to help NHS England achieve its net zero targets.
Attended by more than 200 delegates, the event focused on four themes across eight breakout sessions:
- Changing models of care
- Travel and transport
- Estates and facilities and
- Consumables.
The two roundtable sessions discussed NHS Net Zero challenges and priorities and featured industry experts, including Alexis Percival, Environmental and Sustainability Manager at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Fiona Adshead, Chair of the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition.
Health Care without Harm, Health IL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) also delivered strategic presentations during the session.
Sustainability is a key priority for the AHSN Network. Our network of 15 organsiations across England acts as a pillar in the development and uptake of technologies and best practices designed to reduce emissions in healthcare.
The NHS vision is to deliver the world’s first net zero health service and respond to climate change, improving health now and for future generations. This means improving healthcare while reducing harmful carbon emissions, and investing in efforts that remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
If the session had taken place in-person it would have added an estimated 39,000 kg CO2e to the atmosphere. Equivalent to the yearly electricity use of eight homes.
The sessions are suitable for those working in sustainability, finance, estates and facilities, as well as health professionals. Watch now on YouTube.
