Alexandra Leach, Deputy Director of Programmes – Health Innovation West of England
Alex has more than 20 years’ experience in the medical device industry and has worked widely across the whole healthcare marketplace, with extensive experience of pathway redesign and business case development.
Frank Ratcliff, Director of Industry and Innovation – Health Innovation Wessex
Frank has commercial experience spanning all stages from lab research to major global products and previously worked at Pfizer and Boehringer Ingelheim.
Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation – Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber
Alongside his work in Yorkshire and Humber, Neville’s roles include a National Institute of Health Research i4i reviewer, a Board member of the NHS Innovation Accelerator and vice Chair of the NHS England-funded Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Cancer Programme. He created the Propel@YH accelerator programme, which supports both UK-based and international businesses succeed in the UK market.
Jay Hamilton, Programme Director: Industry and Commercial Partnerships, Health Innovation Manchester
Jay has experience working in various pharma roles and as a project consultant with both the NHS and pharmaceutical companies, helping them to navigate complex joint working arrangements.
Catherine Young, Programme Manager – Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex
After previous roles in private healthcare, Catherine now leads a portfolio focused on ‘Needs Articulation’, working with citizens and system partners to identify challenges that could benefit from innovation, and matching with innovators to help co-develop solutions.
Philip Shelton, Head of Industry Partnerships and Net Zero Lead – Health Innovation East
Philip has extensive experience working in Population Health Management solutions and applied healthcare research. He now focuses on partnerships, business development, imaging, diagnostics, cancer, international trade and sustainability.

Stuart Monk
Stuart is National Programme Director for our Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) programmes and has a wealth of experience in the spread and adoption of technologies, gained in years of working in academic research, governance, mobile phone product development and healthcare improvement. Stuart started working for Health Innovation Network South West in 2015 across all national commissions and it was here that he developed his passion for spread and adoption as both art and science.
Cheryl Crocker
Responsible for the NHS England Patient Safety Commission, Cheryl oversees the many patient safety programmes and initiatives. She is responsible for ensuring patient safety as an underpinning Health Innovation Network theme and is a registered nurse and teacher. Starting her career in the 1980s at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, Cheryl has extensive experience working in senior roles in the NHS, including for the East Midlands Ambulance Service and as Director of Quality and Nursing for three Clinical Commissioning Groups in the South of Nottinghamshire.
